Manage Your Subscription
Dolyu currently has a single subscription plan — there's no tiered plan structure. What you can adjust is the number of seats. Billing and payments are handled by Creem; the Dolyu dashboard never handles or stores your card number.
Free Trial
When you create a new business, a 14-day free trial starts automatically — no payment info required upfront. Each account gets one trial for its entire lifetime — even if you later create a second business, you won't get another trial period.
During the trial, you'll receive these automated notifications:
- Trial started: A confirmation email right after you create your business.
- Expiration reminder: Checked hourly, reminding you to subscribe before the trial expires.
- Retention emails: Emails with usage tips during the trial, encouraging you to complete basic setup.
If the trial expires without upgrading to paid, the account moves to "Expired" status (see the status table below), and you'll receive an expiration notice followed by re-engagement emails; the re-engagement emails don't continue indefinitely.
Viewing Your Current Plan
The "Subscription" page shows your current status, seat usage, and the action buttons available for that status.
Upgrading (Trial to Paid)
Clicking "Subscribe" takes you to a Creem-hosted checkout page to complete payment — card details and other payment info go directly to Creem and never pass through Dolyu's servers.
After payment completes, the system usually confirms and activates the subscription automatically in the background within a few seconds, and the screen shows "Processing." In most cases, this switches to the subscribed view automatically with no action needed. If background confirmation is slightly delayed, the page keeps rechecking every few seconds; if it takes too long, a "Re-check" button appears — no need to reload the whole page.
TIP
If you've used a trial before (even one that already expired), Creem's checkout page will usually reuse the payment info you registered previously when you resubscribe, speeding up the payment process.
Subscription Status Reference
The "Subscription" page shows different actions depending on your current status:
| Status | Description | Available actions |
|---|---|---|
| Trial | Within the 14-day free trial period | Subscribe (upgrade early) / Cancel Subscription |
| Active | Normal paid subscription | Cancel Subscription / Manage Billing / Manage Seats |
| Canceling | Cancellation was submitted, or triggered by an ownership transfer (see below) | Undo Cancellation; if triggered by an ownership transfer, the new Owner also sees "Take over subscription" |
| Past Due | Creem payment failed (expired card, insufficient balance, etc.) | Update Payment Method |
| Paused | Subscription paused | Resume Subscription |
| Expired | Trial or paid subscription expired without renewal | Resubscribe |
When a payment fails, the Owner gets notified, and the dashboard redirects to the "Subscription" page asking for an updated payment method. Once updated, Creem retries the charge automatically; once it succeeds, the account returns to Active status with no need to contact support.
When ownership of a business is transferred, the system schedules the subscription at that time to cancel at period end (the payment method is tied to the original payer, so it can't be transferred directly). Before it expires, the new Owner can use "Take over subscription" to switch the payment method to their own, continuing seamlessly on the same billing cycle — see the "Take over subscription" section of Roles & Permissions for details.
Adjusting Seat Count
You can adjust seat count directly on the Seats card on the "Subscription" page: use the plus/minus buttons (or type a number directly) to set the target seat count — an estimated charge appears immediately below, then confirm by clicking "Update seats." This works during both the trial and paid periods. The new seat count can't be lower than your current team member count (to reduce seats, remove the corresponding team members first — see Invite Team Members).
- During trial: Updates immediately, with no charge.
- Paid period, increasing seats: Before confirming, you'll see a preview of the estimated charge, prorated for the remaining days in the period; confirming charges immediately. The new seat count's monthly fee only applies starting next billing cycle.
- Paid period, decreasing seats: No immediate refund — the lower amount only applies starting next billing cycle, and the current period's paid amount is not refunded for reducing seats. After you submit, a "Seats drop to N" end-of-period event appears on the billing timeline on the "Subscription" page, and can be undone anytime before it takes effect.
The seat count cap is a default limit; exceeding it requires contacting support to have it raised — it's not a self-service option in the dashboard.
Payment Method & Invoices
Accounts on a paid subscription can access the Creem-hosted billing portal from the "Subscription" page to manage their payment method and view/download invoices.
Common Questions
Can I subscribe to the paid plan during the trial? Yes. While on trial, you can click "Subscribe" at any time to upgrade to the paid plan early — you don't need to wait for the trial to expire.
If I increase seats and then immediately decrease them, does the charge get refunded? No. The estimated charge for adding seats is billed as soon as it's confirmed; decreasing seats only affects the next billing cycle's amount. Neither involves a refund.
Does a failed payment lock the account immediately? Not all functionality is locked immediately, but the Owner/Admin is redirected to the "Subscription" page and asked to update the payment method; the rest of the dashboard is restricted until it's updated.
Can I create a second business under the same account and get another trial? No. Trial eligibility is tied to the account itself, not to an individual business — each account only gets one trial.
Will subscription plans be tiered in the future? Currently there's only a single plan with adjustable seat count — no tiered plan options with different feature sets.
Troubleshooting
- Payment completed but the screen keeps showing "Processing": This is the normal background confirmation flow, usually completing within seconds. If it's still not updated after about 30 seconds, a "Re-check" button appears — click it. No need to reload the whole page or check out again.
- Received a payment failure notice, but you've already updated your payment method: Creem needs a short time to retry the charge — it doesn't take effect the instant you update. If it still shows as failed after a long wait, confirm the new payment method itself is valid (for example, that the card hasn't expired).
- No "Subscribe" button, only billing info: This means the account is already in an active subscription state (Active or Trial) — no need to subscribe again. To confirm your current plan details, check the status summary at the top of the "Subscription" page.
