Customer Points

Dolyu offers a customer points feature — merchants can add points to a customer or deduct points from them.

Viewing and adjusting points

On the "Points" tab of a customer's detail page, you can see:

  • Current points balance
  • Points transaction history (amount, note, and time for each change), paginated (10/25/50/100 per page, selectable) so you can page through the full history

Customer Points is accessible only to the Admin/Owner role — Member accounts see no "Customers" item in the navigation menu at all, and can't view or operate on any customer's points balance (see Roles & Permissions).

INFO

Points are calculated as "1 point = 1 unit of the merchant's configured currency" (currency is set under General settings). Every change is recorded — there's no way to adjust the balance without leaving a record.

Limits on adding/deducting points

When adding or deducting points:

  • Each transaction amount must be a positive integer, with a cap of 99,999 points per transaction.
  • After adding points, a customer's balance can't exceed 999,999 points (a balance ceiling) — the system blocks the action and shows the limit if you try to go over.
  • A deduction can't exceed the customer's current balance (it will never push the balance negative).
  • Each transaction can include an optional note, which is saved with that transaction record so you can review the reason for the adjustment later.

Both operations update the balance and transaction history immediately. If other components on the same page also display the points balance (for example, a customer transactions list), they update in sync too — no manual page refresh needed.

Common Questions

Do points expire? The system itself has no points-expiry mechanism. Whether to set a usage period and how to communicate it to customers is entirely up to the merchant.

Can customers check their own points balance? Customers can view their own points balance from their own booking page/account, but they can't add or deduct points themselves — all adjustments are made by the Admin/Owner from the dashboard.

Can points be used to offset an appointment's cost? The points balance and appointment checkout are two independent systems. Whether to apply points against an appointment's cost is something the merchant handles manually at checkout — it isn't offset automatically by the system.

Can a deduction push the balance negative? No — the system blocks a deduction from exceeding the current balance, so the balance never goes negative.

Troubleshooting

Can't see the "Customers" menu item, can't view points: the logged-in account is a Member — this page is Admin/Owner only, and you'll need an Admin or Owner to help.

Submitting an amount gets blocked: check whether the amount exceeds the 99,999-point-per-transaction cap, or whether adding it would push the balance over the 999,999-point ceiling — both are blocked by the system with a message shown. You'll need to split the transaction into smaller amounts, or check the current balance first.

Deduction amount is larger than the customer's current balance: the system doesn't allow a deduction to go negative — check the customer's actual current balance before adjusting the deduction amount.

How this differs from other features

  • "Finance Records" is the merchant's own income and expense bookkeeping — unrelated to customer points, and the two don't interact.
  • Customer points and the merchant's own subscription billing (see "Manage Your Subscription") are two completely independent systems.
